  • Day 1: Huaraz - Base Camp – moraine camp (5000m)/16,400ft.
  • Day 2: attempt summit at (5686m) - Moraine camp – base camp – Huaraz.

The normal route for climbing vallunaraju (Llaca valley):

On our website, we describe the normal route, which is a more common route to ascent via west glacier slope & south ridge, on llaca valley. This is a great route & feasible if you are fit & well-acclimatized climbing with a regular ice axe.

Is it for me? - (2 days climbing)

  • Mount vallunaraju is ideal for beginners or advanced-level climbers.
  • This lovely peak is ideal for all adventure lovers, who want to be involved in an adventure journeys and for those who are ready to live a unique mountain experience.
  • It is more suitable for adventurous climbers, who can adapt easily to a higher altitude and longer lengths because it requires considerable physical condition & previous acclimatization process to the altitude.

Restrictions:

  • Not allowed for pregnant women.
  • Not suitable for climbers with heart problems.
  • Not allowed for climbers with knee problems because it requires being in shape.
Climbing Vallunaraju

is advisable for beginners because this lovely summit does not require plenty of technical mountaineering experience, further is an ideal summit for advanced-level climbers, who are looking to acclimatize for attempting higher summits.

Tips on Getting Acclimatize

Getting acclimatization is really quite easy. In fact, it is unavoidable if you just pass the time at altitude. You can't help yourself. After a couple of nights sleeping at 3000 meters (10,000 feet) try to move up to a higher elevation to sleep.

Things to avoid:

  • Strenuous exercise upon arrival at altitude is generally a bad idea.
  • Light exercise, such as walking is much better. If you have just arrived in Huaraz
  • Sleeping medications should be avoided until you are sure that you are not suffering
  • From any symptoms of Altitude Mountain Sickness (AMS).
  • Confusing one illness for another is a common occurrence. Dehydration can bring on headaches, a symptom also common to AMS. While AMS, in severe cases can cause nausea and even vomiting, it does not cause stomach cramps or diarrhea
Suggestion for advanced level climbers:

please understand that before climbing Ishinca you should complete a good acclimatization process to avoid the terrible altitude sickness, ask us to provide you the right advice. Example spend at least a couple of day hikes around Huaraz.

  • Laguna churup is a good option
  • climbing Nevado Mateo for second-day acclimatization is advisable
  • Finally climbing Vallunaraju.
Suggestion for novice climbers:

If you are planning to visit our region, you can maximize what you can do? How you can enjoy it with better health? You should make a good acclimation process, as soon as you visit our highland region to avoid the dangerous altitude sicknesses, because, from our own experience, we understand the main point of interest is what our clients need to feel safe and comfortable away from their home. For example novice climber follow the next procedure:

  • Begin with couple day hikes as laguna wilcacocha + laguna churup or laguna 69.
  • Then pass to multi-day treks can be a week or couple of weeks (treks Santa Cruz, Huayhuash circuit or Cedros Alpamayo) are a nice for training.
  • Finally, after passing all process, your body is ready to attempt easy peaks with (PD difficult) summits as Pisco, Vallunaraju, Maparaju, Ishinca, Urus) either is a great option.
Guiding Ratio on Climbing Mount Vallunaraju

For not technical level summits with PD difficult: 3 by 1, which means a maximum of three clients for guide, for the technical nature of the route, because, climbing in large groups of more than 3 will be accompanied by additional guides, as necessary. We consider that because of the less ration a guide increases our safety.

Best time:
  • End of May – begin of September. Considered the best time, suitable for taking scenic pictures of landscape with blue sky. Besides are ideal months for adventure lovers, who want to practice, mountaineering & other outdoor pursuits.
  • October - November (intermediate season) months in which sometimes after 2:00 pm you can have rain in the afternoon.
  • December - March (rainy season) mixed weather, sunny & cloudy, which means sometimes sunny during the day and rain in the afternoon. Take your precautions (wear rain clothes & poncho).
Weather:
The weather is very variable, even in the dry season from May - September it can rain as a result of global warming and the effects of climate change. During the day it can vary from warm to very cold temperatures, including rain and strong wind or snow at more than 4600 meters.

We want to make sure that you have a great unforgettable experience during the development of our programs, however, it is also important that everyone involved in the operation of our treks is well treated humanely and cared for (not exploitation), and that the benefits it provides Tourism be shared Throughout the Peruvian communities. All our porters, cooks, and muleteers, sleep in a shared sleeping tent that has a waterproof floor, besides they have access to any first aid equipment if necessary. we consider this to have a humane and fair treatment of human beings, (many companies in the Cordillera Blanca do not practice this important item instead practice it, they try to reduce their salary, and increase their work under non-human treatment, which is visible if you want to decide to make any trek or climb in this region). We can guarantee that our guides, porters, cooks, and muleteers are well treated, receive a fair wage, are well paid according to the price established in each place, where develops the adventure activities, & they have also warm dry accommodation and plenty of nutritious hot meals to eat. This is concerning our program rate is a bit expensive compared to others the reason is here: (fair salary, good client service and humane treatment of staff).
Of course, many other trekking companies in Huaraz will tell you this, just only for selling their programs. However, there are fewer than a handful of companies that genuinely care about their staff.

We take care of our transport animals (donkey, horse)

We focus highly on the protection of our transport animals since they are the other fundamental piece for the correct development of trekking & climbing expeditions, the maximum weight is 35 - 40 kilograms for each animal, therefore we use in our expeditions the necessary amount of animals, according to the number of participants and group luggage. As for the staff, many other trekking companies in Huaraz will tell you this for selling their programs. However, in reality, it is completely different & if you buy with these companies, you will see during the trek those animals are carrying more than 50 kilos, outside the limit of their capacity. Furthermore, you will watch a large group of 10 - 12 people using just only 4 - 5 donkeys for transferring personal and group luggage + and all food supplies, just a day before the departure of your trip, you will be announced that the luggage limit is no more than 5 kilos per person including your sleeping bag. This means if your luggage weight is more than five kilos you need to add an extra payment for extra cargo animals or in another hand, you have to carry in your personal backpack (something that was not planned by you and never was advertised before your booking).

Clothing

  • Hiking boots or hiking shoes: good hiking boots are the most important piece of gear on your hike to approach at base camp; badly fitting hiking boots will result in lost nails, painful blisters & sore feet. Here some recommended and reliable kinds of boots. For example, a B0 is advisable whatever brand can be.
  • Climbing Boots: need to be crampon-compatible. For most easy climbs up to over 5600 meters, a lightweight mountaineering boot (B2) is more than adequate. For summits up to about 6000 meters, a B3 boot is required, mostly for the additional warmth it provides. Well-insulated single leather or synthetic mountaineering boots, or lighter plastic boots, are appropriate. The Sportiva, scarpa Nepal Evo is a good example.
